Location: Centrally located
Time: 10:00am (1 hours of nutrition workshop and 2 hours of cooking demo)

Summary
Learn what your children should be eating, what they should not be eating (and why), how to build a healthy eating plan and most importantly how to stick to the plan and get your kids to like it. We will be cooking too.  This is a practical workshop that is aimed at parents who would like their children to eat healthy meals, parents of children who have immune system disorders, parents of children who suffer from ADD and ADHD and parents or care takers that have “picky eaters”.

Who should do this workshop?
This workshop is open to anyone who looks after kids including care givers, mums and dads.

The program will cover:

  • What nutrients do children need in their diet?
  • What does junk food do to our body?
  • So what’s a healthy eating plan and how do we get it going?
  • What types of foods should we have in our pantry?
  • Sample 2-week menu plan handout
  • Ideas about how to transform your kids’ favourite meals into healthy meals
  • Organic vs. Non Organic debate
  • Supplementation- is it necessary
  • What NOT to say to your children about food- the psychology of a healthy eater (building healthy eating habits and a healthy relationship with food)
  • Children’s Recipe e-book filled with recipes for you to try
  • Comprehensive workshop handout covering all the topics we talk about in great detail

Learning objectives: My aim is to educate parents and give them the tools to bring their children to WANT to eat healthy, to WANT to make smart and healthy food choices because they will understand how important it is for their body. I want to equip you with the knowledge to be confident on what to feed and nourish your child

Chef Michelle from Conscious Cuisine will be cooking up a storm and showing you plenty of breakfast, lunch and dinner ideas and healthy yummy treats too.

  • Super food breakfasts including juices, smoothies and pancakes (that jam pack those important nutrients needed to start the day right)
  • Snacks that are perfect for home or a lunch box
  • Lunch and dinner ideas
  • Sweet treats that are actually good for growing bodies (nice -cream, milkshakes)

***All recipes are gluten and diary free, vegetarian, low GI and full of goodness.

What people said about this workshop
“A must for every parent and care taker, our children’s health is so important to us and the food we give them is their fuel. I definitely learned what not to give my kids but also learned some really exciting and inspiring ideas of what to give my kids and how to get them involved. I loved the strategies that Karin gives to handle the picky eaters and I love that she is not extreme, rather makes it seem as if we can all do so step by step”.

FAQs
What’s the location of the workshop?
It will be in the central Orchard area. As the location is determined by the size of the class we will let you know the exact location of the class prior to signing up.

Can I bring my kids along with me to a workshop?
We are very happy to have your kids join, however most of the workshops have a lecture component and that would require your child to sit still for an hour without disturbing other participants. Perhaps bringing along some games, an activity and a snack might help you child stay occupied.

“I have just attended your Kids Eat Healthy Workshop and I wanted to say that you made a difference for me tonight. I was looking for sound advice about what my kids should be eating, that was ethical but not alarmist, and I’m pleased to have received that from you.

You gave me a huge reminder that I am 100% accountable and responsible for my children’s diet, and you’ve changed my mindset on how to deal with food refusal. (A big ah-huh moment!) My 3 year old is becoming quite argumentative, and this includes food. I’ve started saying ‘I’m sorry, but I’m not arguing with you,’ about behaviour, etc, and I will now be doing this for food, too. “

“Thank you very much for very interesting session last night!

It reminded me of all the important things I need to bear in mind while planning meals for my three little ones!

I got so inspired and today we prepared lentil curry together with organic vegetable ratatouille and brown rice! It was a big hit and my two toddlers finished everything in 10 mins, all by themselves :-)”
