Homemade recipe for Muesli

Want to reduce your cholesterol levels the natural way?

Studies have shown that a diet high in fiber helps lower your bad cholesterol and de-clog your arteries.

Foods containing high levels of fiber include:

  • Nuts and seeds (provided they are raw and unsalted); almonds, hazelnuts, brazil nuts, walnuts, pine nuts, pepita’s, sunflower seeds…a small handful a day is enough.
  • Foods that contain soluble fiber like rolled oats & whole grains (brown rice, quinoa, millet, barley, buckwheat)
  • Psyllium husks (add to your cereals, yogurt, salads)
  • Fresh fruits  and vegetables
  • Legumes (beans and lentils)

Here is a quick and easy recipe for home made muesli that contains loads of fiber ( a brilliant way to start off your morning or snack on during the day):

Ingredients

  • 300g rolled oats
  • 350g puffed millet of quinoa
  • 85g pumpkin seeds
  • 40g sunflower seeds
  • 150g organic, sun-dried goji berries
  • 100g of dried un-sweetened coconut strips
  • 3 tablespoons chopped almonds
  • 90g organic raisins
  • 3 tablespoons chia seeds or wheat germ
  • 1-2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon/nutmeg (to taste)

To make

Mix together all the ingredients in a large bowl. Serve with yoghurt, low fat or almond milk and fresh fruit.

Enjoy and have a wonderful week,

Love,

Karin
